We collect only what we need to build your website and send you leads — and we never sell your data or your customers' data.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how ChargeWeb ("we", "us") handles personal information when you visit chargeweb.site, when you sign up as a contractor or agency ("Client"), and when people visit websites we build and host for our Clients ("Visitors").
For information Visitors submit on a Client's website — such as a quote request or booking — the Client is the business responsible for that information and we process it on the Client's behalf. Please contact that business directly about how they use your details.
2. Information we collect
From Clients:
- Account details: name, email, password (stored securely and never readable by us), and your role.
- Business profile: business name, phone, address, service areas, services, hours, licences, photos, logos and reviews you provide or ask us to import from your existing website.
- Billing and agreement records, change requests and messages you send us.
From Visitors to Client websites:
- Details entered in forms: name, phone, email, address, the service needed, preferred date and time, notes and consent choices.
- Messages typed into the AI chat receptionist.
- Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, used to run and secure the site.
3. How we use information
- To build, host, update and support websites.
- To deliver leads and booking requests to the right Client, including by email alerts.
- To power the AI receptionist, which answers questions using the Client's business facts.
- To generate website drafts with AI from the facts a Client provides.
- To bill, prevent fraud and abuse, keep the Service secure, and meet legal obligations.
- To send service messages. We send marketing email only where allowed and you can opt out anytime.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use Visitor lead data to market to Visitors ourselves.
4. AI processing
Some features send text to AI model providers to generate website content or chat replies. We send only what is needed for the task, use providers that do not use this data to train public models under our agreements, and design the receptionist to answer only from the Client's verified business facts.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the Service, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Cloud database, authentication and file storage.
- Website hosting and content delivery (for example Vercel).
- Email delivery for lead alerts and account messages.
- AI model providers for content generation and chat.
- Payment processors for subscription billing.
- Code hosting such as GitHub, only if a Client connects it.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to make websites work. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on Client websites unless the Client adds them, in which case the Client is responsible for any required notice or consent.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/SSL). Each Client's data is separated so one business cannot see another's records, and only authorized staff can access accounts for support. Secrets such as hosting tokens are stored server-side and never sent to the browser. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected users of a breach where the law requires.
8. How long we keep information
We keep Client account and website data while the subscription is active. After cancellation we keep it for up to 90 days so you can return or export it, then delete or anonymize it, except where we must keep records (such as invoices) for legal or tax reasons. Lead records are kept for as long as the Client keeps them in their account.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the CCPA/CPRA in California or the GDPR in Europe), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or limit certain uses. Clients can update most information in their portal. To make a request, email us; if you are a Visitor, we will pass your request to the relevant business. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights.
10. Children
The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect their information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If changes are material we will notify Clients by email or in the portal before they take effect, and update the date at the top of this page.
